The
Paediatric Haematology,
Oncology and Haemostaseology
is a centre for treating
childhood haematologic
and malignant disease.
The patients are mostly
treated within multi-centre
trials. Special expertise
of the clinic (director:
Prof T. Klingebiel) is
in allogeneic haematopoietic
stem cell transplantation
from sibling, matched
unrelated and mismatched
related donors with or
without graft manipulation.
Research interest is mainly
in improving the treatment
of high-risk patients
with acute leukaemias
and neuroblastoma. The
work of the associated
laboratories is specially
focused on the diagnosis,
monitoring and treatment
of these diseases, with
expertise in cellular
immunotherapy and infectious
complications in immunocompromised
patients.
