Our research focuses on the central nervous system. Brain-related disorders such as Anxiety, Depression, Ischemia or Dementia are highly complex. Our goals are to understand disease etiologies and to elucidate modes of action of current or potential future drugs. To accomplish this mission the research team consists of pharmacists, biochemists, biologists and food chemists. They merge their multidisciplinary knowledge to define solutions in areas such as cell death mechanisms, oxidative stress, signal transduction processes and membrane biology. Our approach involves different disease-related in vivo and in vitro test systems. It is our goal to elaborate new drug targets for the treatment of neurological and psychiatric disease.
