Main tasks of the Center for General Surgery are: Diagnosis, surgery and therapy of malign and non-malign diseases of the abdomen, the gastrointestinal tract and the thyroid/parathyroid. Another important field of research in our center is the transplantation surgery.
Clinical topics of the oncology are research, education and patient care in the areas General Surgery, Visceral Surgery, Abdominal Organ Transplant in tumor diseases and Oncological Pediatric Surgery. The Center for General Surgery participates in lots of multi-center international studies and initiates studies in patients with liver resection. Oncological patients are offered a psycho-oncological counseling; the optimizing of palliative care is an important focus of the center.
