The Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Hemostaseology is a center for treating hematologic and malignant diseases of childhood and adolescence. The patients are mostly treated within multi-center trials. Special expertise of the clinic (director: Prof T. Klingebiel) is in allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation from sibling, matched unrelated and mismatched related donors with or without graft manipulation. Research interest is mainly in improving the treatment of high-risk patients with acute leukemias and neuroblastoma. The work of the associated laboratories is specially focused on the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of these diseases, with expertise in cellular immunotherapy and infectious complications in immunocompromised patients.
