The Clinic of anesthesiology, intensive care and pain control has a broad expertise in clinical research, clinically oriented animal models up to basic research. Of great interest is the inhalative application of compounds regarding the pulmonal vasodilation and the anti-inflammational therapy in experimental endotoxemic lung injury. Likewise of interest is the exploration of oxygen transport, tissue oxygenation and organ function in different pathophysiological states of anemic and hypoxic hypoxia, as well as preclinical and clinical development of perioperative transfusion alternatives. For this purpose, In-vivo- and In-vitro-Models and a many year-long clinical and experimental know-how is available.
