The Institute
of Organic Chemistry and Chemical
Biology focuses primarily on
the development and application
of the chemical and biological
synthesis of molecules, the
structure elucidation of biopolymers
by NMR spectroscopy and X-ray
structure analysis, the chemical
informatics as well as the functional
investigation of biologically
active molecules. Based on theoretical
and experimental studies the
main objective is the identification
of chemical properties relevant
for the biological activity
of molecules. The chemical biology
is strongly influenced by the
bioorganic chemistry and medicinal
chemistry, and a variety of
methods of organic synthesis,
structural biology, molecular
biology, cell biology and molecular
informatics are applied.
