The research focus of Prof.
Engels group is the modification
of desoxynucleic and ribonucleic
acids. These modifications can
take place at the bases and
the sugars, as well as the backbone
of the DNA. These modified nucleotides
and/or ribonucleotides are incorporated
in DNA or RNA strands (Hammerhead-Ribozym,
RNAi, Antisense, universal bases,
CpG-oligo desoxynucleotide-motifes).
